What is Project Stakeholder Management?
Project stakeholder management is the process of managing the relationship between the project and its stakeholders, which are those who are impacted by the results of a project, such as senior management. The goal of project stakeholder management is to ensure that the project meets the expectations and objectives of stakeholders, which includes the following:
Stakeholder documentation. Documenting stakeholder communication at the beginning of the project, to record their expectations of the project so that it can be later used to ascertain that these expectations have been met.
Stakeholder communication. Maintaining an open line of communication with stakeholders during the course of the project, which includes receiving requests and feedback and responding to these.
Stakeholder status reports. Delivering periodic status reports to stakeholders, so that they are kept up-to-date on the project, and following these up by asking for feedback.
Misinformation. Dispelling any misinformation stakeholders might receive about the project from sources outside it.
