    FAQs

What is database auditing and monitoring?

Database auditing and monitoring are procedures for making sure your data is secure and all the inquiries into it are valid. Database monitoring is a security technique that analyses activity for malicious actors, and with database auditing you can investigate each interaction with your data and analyze it thoroughly. And with this Configuring Encryption, Data Access, and Auditing in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 training, you can do auditing and monitoring for yourself.

Why should I take Configuring Encryption, Data Access, and Auditing in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 training?

There are two big reasons that database administrators should consider getting this Configuring Encryption, Data Access, and Auditing in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 training. First, security and compliance. Security means knowing that you're keeping data safe and that you aren't losing money. Compliance means being able to prove that you're keeping it safe, which leads to customer confidence. The other big reason is that the very act of auditing and monitoring your data leads to cleaner, more useful data.

Is this Configuring Encryption, Data Access, and Auditing in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 training associated with a certification?

No, this Configuring Encryption, Data Access, and Auditing in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 is no longer associated with a valid certification. The database monitoring and auditing skills you learned in this training used to apply to the MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration certification, but Microsoft retired that certification. The material on this training helped prepare learners for the 70-764 and 70-765 exams, but those are both retired.

What will you learn in this database monitoring and auditing training?

This database monitoring and auditing training was originally developed to help database administrators with specific parts of the MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration certification exams. After this training, you'll know how to configure an audit on SQL Server, including how to query the SQL Server audit log and analyze the logs and reports. This training also covers how to monitor database activity, analyze the resource uses of different sessions, monitor queries and resolve problematic execution plans.

Are the MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration exams 70-764 and 70-765 retired?

Yes, both certifying exams for the MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration are retired. Microsoft retired both 70-764: Administering a SQL Database Infrastructure and 70-765: Provisioning SQL Databases on January 31, 2021. Microsoft didn't just retire exams 70-764 and 70-765, but they also retired the entire series of MCSA and MCSE certifications at the same time. It's no longer possible to take 70-764 or 70-765, and they won't be getting replaced.

    Who is this for?

This Encryption, Data Access, and Auditing in SQL Server 2016 training is considered associate-level Microsoft training, which means it was designed for database administrators with at least a year of experience with data security and encryption tools and experienced database administrators looking to validate their SQL Server 2016 skills.
