That's why we’re so excited to officially introduce Adept, a learning platform developed by our own team to help you learn better and achieve more. All of the CBT Nuggets training you know and love will now be hosted on Adept. It’s an entirely enhanced experience, designed with your success in mind.

Why We Created Adept

Folks who’ve been training with CBT Nuggets from the start will remember our humble roots. What started with Microsoft training DVDs sold on eBay has evolved into the IT training you know today. Now, we teach learners located in more than 179 countries around the world the skills needed to operate the most in-demand IT technologies from Cisco, CompTIA, AWS, Fortinet, Palo Alto, ISACA, VMware, and so much more.

It’s been quite the journey. And we’ve learned a lot in the 25 years since we began making those Microsoft videos. Over the years, we’ve heard from thousands of learners who’ve shared their experiences with us. That feedback helped us recognize that the IT industry demands a deeper, more personalized learning experience. Bringing CBT Nuggets to life within the powerful new Adept interface allows us to create an experience that better serves the learners and teams who are at the forefront of a more advanced technical world.

Adept was designed to empower users to do more than pass certifications. Learners will gain practical, hands-on skills that can be put to use every day. Administrators will gain access to better reporting and admin tools designed to make assignments and progress tracking easier. 

New Features, Found Only in Adept

As migration from the legacy CBT Nuggets platform begins on Nov. 4, 2024, you’ll notice some key differences between the old learning experience and the new. You can still expect the same great training videos from the instructors you love—but with a few more bells and whistles to help the skills you learn stick with you after your training session ends.

1. Improved course layout and advanced learning tools

We’ve replaced the standard video player with an improved layout designed to minimize distractions.  Now, in-line videos and quizzes will test your knowledge while you train, and your favorite CBT Nuggets trainers can include additional resources to help you retain more info. Think code snippets, tables, text, images, downloads, polls, and advanced virtual labs.

“Learners have way more tools available in Adept, not just videos and labs. Now we can also perform some quiz questions out of band. Or use text paragraphs to drive concepts home,” says Jeff Kish, CBT Nuggets trainer and two-time CCIE. To put it simply, the new training format has more options available as far as how you prefer to learn—not just video.

Now, Kish points out, learners don’t have to watch, pause, and rewatch a video to find the exact snippet they need to memorize ahead of exam day. The new learning experience allows trainers to list those key points out in text that accompanies the video. That way, learners can memorize them without having to go through a video to find the exact point where the topic was discussed.

2. Better search functions and more organized training library 

Easily find the training you’re searching for with just a few clicks. Search for skills and certification courses by career path, vendor, or trainer. Results are easy to navigate and you can quickly scan to find featured, trending, or new training.  

3. Better insights into your learning journey

New analytics and progress tracking tools let you track your progress, pinpoint areas for improvement, and measure how close you are to achieving your certification goals. This level of visibility ensures you stay on track and motivated.

4. More labs mean more hands-on practice

You’ll also gain access to a new virtual lab tool known as playgrounds, which lets you simulate and practice any skill you like outside the confines of a structured lab. These pre-configured lab environments allow you to build your own virtual lab environment from the ground up. Current lab playgrounds include: 

• Cisco L2 Beginner Topology

• Cisco L2 Advanced Topology

• Ubuntu Client and Ubuntu Server

• Windows 10 & 11

• Windows Server 2022

• Windows Server Hyper-V Host with 1 Client and 3 Servers, and more.  

For a limited time, all playground labs are included for no additional cost with all subscriptions. Roll up your sleeves and see what you can lab up using the full potential of CBT Nuggets powered by Adept. 

Every active CBT Nuggets user migrates to the new platform on Nov. 4. You’ll need to reset your password when you first log in to Adept.
