What is Access Database Splitting?
When you split an Access database, you reorganize it into two parts, for the purpose of improving its performance and reducing the chances of file corruption. After splitting a database, one part of it resides on the backend and includes your data tables while the other part resides on the frontend and includes other forms of Access objects, such as queries, forms and reports.
You can split your Access database by using the Database Splitter Wizard. After doing this, you must distribute the frontend part of your database to your users, who will then use this as a local copy on their devices.
Before splitting your database, back it up. By doing this, if you don't like the results of splitting your database, you can restore your original one.
Understand that it can take a long time to split a database, and while this is happening, your users shouldn't access it.
